Brief Answer:
Stop smoking 2 weeks before and after surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I can understand your concern.

I ask my patients to quit smoking two weeks prior to surgery and after.

This will help your healing process.

Nicotine is the problem as it is a vaso constrictor causing the blood vessels to constrict and not allowing proper blood supply to the area.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any questions, I am happy to help.

Wish you a good health.

What about smoking weed?

Answered by Dr. Paparaja S (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Stop even weed before surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow up.
Smoking weed can potentiate the hypnotic and sedative actions of medications used during anesthesia and lead to complications.
It can also cause oropharyngitis and lead to difficulty in intubation during surgery.
So I recommend you to stop using weed 2 weeks before surgery.
Wish you a good health.
Take care.

Okay, what if I do weed edibles before/after the surgery. Also what about vaporizers before/after surgery?
