Is It Safe To Have An Orgasm While Recovering From Placental Abruption?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Jul 2015
Question: Hi there. My placenta has a 7cm by 2cm tear. I've been in bed rest for almost 6 weeks. The bleeding/old blood has almost completely stopped. My sex drive has been extremely high and I'm afraid orgasm would cause the tear more. What are you thoughts on this? Would non-intercourse orgasm be a danger at this point? The tear had healed to 5.8cm as of 3 weeks ago.

Brief Answer:
I will recommend you do nothing at this time!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I will not want that you get involved in anything that has to do with the genital tract and the uterus. This pregnancy is for sure very valued. Though orgasm might not have a proven effect on this tear, the risk is too much for us to take at this time. I will rather want to be safe than sorry.

In all, I discourage orgasm not because there is a proven relationship between orgasm and placenta tear aggravation but because we do not want to taken such a risk with unknown consequences. Better to be safe than sorry.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
