Posted on Tue, 17 Feb 2015
Question: is it o.k. that I take Vit. D 2000 IU and Calcitrol 0.25MCG. daily???

My nephrologist gives the percentage in my lab work and nothing else...no questions or additional info on my progress. Is this true of all nephrologists???

Brief Answer:
combined vit D

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It is OK to take the two medicines together . But you have to monitor Serum Creatinine, Calcium, Phosphorus level every month and Vitamin D (25 Hydroxy) level at least once in 3 months.

The answer to second question is No. the progress has to be judged on clinical as well as lab parameters.

It you have any issues to discuss, write in.
Best wishes,

Brief Answer:
patient counselling

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Please correct- It is nephrologist and not neurologist.

Things to understand are-

1. Extent of kidney damage.
2 Rate of progression of kidney disease.
3. discuss any physical symptoms you are having and possible remedies.

and from your side you can do ONE thing. believe in what he says, and carry on with life as normally as possible.

best wishes
