Brief Answer:
It must be for ADHD not for Depression or anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. Welcome to HCM.

What is the age of your nephew? Because the combination of edronax and dexamphetamine is usually used to treat ADHD.

Edronax is usually approved for the treatment of depression but it is also effective in treatment of panic disorder and ADHD, While dexamphetamine is usually prescribed in patients of ADHD. Sometimes in resistant cases of depression doctor can try dexamphetamine.

So, from the combination of these drugs, it is very difficult to tell, for which condition they have been given.

If, these are given for depression than response will be seen within next 15 days, while for ADHD, the effects will be earlier.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further query than feel free to ask.

He's 22 and now living with us. And we've had him referred to the psychiatrist he's now seeing once a week. What are the symptoms of ADHD in a young adult?
I think it's important I'm empathetic to his issues but at the same time I think he is more than capable of doing basic chores around the house. And he spends all day in his bedroom. what are the side effects of these drugs when it comes to sleeping? Because he sleeps in so late but I don't think he goes to sleep until very late also.

Brief Answer:
So, It may be depression

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing again.

ADHD is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder which is usually diagnosed in children and symptoms are present before the age of 7 years. Child has poor attention and concentration and can not keep track with studies in attention predominant disorder, while in hyperactive child symptoms are different. Hyperactive child remains in continuous motion, can not sit at one place, can not wait for the turn, intrudes in others, can not pay attention to studies and he has difficulty in concentrating also.

If your nephew is having excessive lethargy and apathy then it may be because of depression and he may be given dexamphetamine for these symptoms. I here feel that he has depression and he is given edronax and dexamphetamine for relieving the current symptoms of depression. The drugs will show the effects within next 15 days.

Hope I have answered the query. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish you good health.
