Is It Possible To Have Normal White Blood Cell Count When Suffering From Lyme Disease?

Question: If you have Lyme disease , can you still have a normal white blood cell count? And if you are on antiboitcs, for a sinus infection and you take the l Lyme disease test, will the antibotics interfere with results?

1. White blood cell count is rarely affected in patients with lyme's disease. Blood cell counts has no typical findings and this is why it is not one os the tests recommended in testing for this disease(Lyme's) condition. However, most patients with lyme disease would have a normal white blood cell count.

2. Tests for Lyme's disease look for antibodies. Antibiotics cannot interfere with this test as antibiotics have no impact/effects on antibodies. This is to say, antibiotics cannot alter the outcome of a test for lyme disease. Feel free to get tested even when on antibiotics as the results would remain unaffected.
