Is It Normal To Start Taking The Levest Pill During Mid Cycle?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 Mar 2015
Question: I have been on the pill for over 6 years with no problems but recently took a 4 month break. I started taking Levest 150 again and did so mid cycle (I was not on my period) now for the 4th month in a row since starting I am having a period 10 days in to my pill pack so therefore I have been having it twice a month. Is this normal and should I be worried? How long does it take to settle down.

Brief Answer:
It will settle down in few more months.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Having a period twice a month can be due to starting the pill mid cycle. It can cause such a mild hormonal disturbance. To have a regular period once a week either you stop taking the pill after your normal period starts ( mid cycle one), discard rest of the tablets and start with a new pack or wait for few more cycles if it is not very inconvenient.
The cycles will return to normal in next 2-3 months.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you for your answer. This is what I thought was the problem. Do you mean if I want to have a regular period once a month?

I just started my mid cycle period today. So should I stop taking my current pill pack now wait a week and take a new pack after 7 days? Or shall I discard the pack and take the new pack immediately?

Sorry one last question. If I stop taking my pill for 5 days and then start the new pack. Will I be immediately covered for pregnancy or do I need to use other protection for a week?
