Brief Answer: Possibility of irritation to the cream Detailed Answer: Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic I am Dr. Kakkar and I have gone through your query and understood it. First of all I would like to congratulate both of you for having a baby and wish you all the very best. Stretch marks are an inevitable part of pregnancy. They result due to rupture of collagen framework of the dermis, as a result of stretching of skin from abdominal distension. Stretch marks are initially reddish or bluish in color but later on they become whitish in appearance Though there are lot of OTC creams available to help prevent and decrease the appearance of Stretch marks but none of them works 100% in all. Infact they do very little to improve the appearance of stretch marks once formed. In your case I could judge from your description and after having a look at the pictures that the marks may have become irritated to the cream that you are using. I would advice that, for the time being, she stops using the cream that she has been using for stretch marks. Instead she can use a bland cream e.g Vaseline cream/lotion OR a cold cream and mix it with an equal quantity(1:1) of a moderately potent steroid e.g fluticasone and then apply it twice daily over the affected area. This should make it fine within a week or 10 days. Thereafter she can use an intensive moisturizing cream frequently over the stretch marks e.g Elovera cream. Moisturizing the area as much as possible would hasten the skin healing and recovery and reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Hope this answers your query regards
