default
Posted on Thu, 30 Oct 2014
Question: I had abortion 2 weeks and 2 days ago. I took the seound set of pills started bleeding in 30 minutes. I had side effects chills low grade fever never got over 99. Then I started feeling my stomach upset I went to the bathroom and when I pushed I felt something come out and made a pulmp sound.
I looked but couldn't tell because off the water and blood so I just flushed the toilet. The cramps went away and all side effects in a few hours. I had spotting for a week and now my second week I've been bleeding like a period with some cramps and very small clots. Was it successful abortion and is this normal?

Brief Answer:
Mostly it was a incomplete abortion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

In view of details, it clearly looks like an incomplete abortion.

Fever and chills are not side effects of medications but indicate infection.

Ideal step is to get ultrasound done to see retended products of conception.

You are likely to need a D and C procedure.

Hope this helps. Please ask if there are doubts.Regards

I only had chills and stuff during the time of heavy bleeding after a few hours and cramps went away so did everything else. I don't have any stomach pain fever or been sick since just the bleeding now with small blood clots. What are signs or how to know abortion was incomplete? I have no signs of pregnancy. I have taken pregnancy test which come up with a faint light postive. I have gone to pregnancy clinic here and they say I have to stop bleeding for 24 hours completely before doing a sonogram.

Thanks for follow up.

Detailed Answer:
1.Continued bleeding after abortion with or without other symptoms is indicative of incomplete abortion.
2.Rather than depending on signs/symptoms, ultrasound is easy and sure way to know incomplete abortion.
3.Incomplete abortion doesn't have signs of pregnancy.
4.Pregnancy test came positive because still hormone levels are up.
5.You can get a transabdominal ultrasound done with full bladder any time, no need to wait for 24 hours after stopping bleeding.Yes, for tranvaginal ultrasound, bleeds needs to be stopped.Get a transabdominal ultrasound done.
