Brief Answer:
It is normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in

It is normal to get discharge purulent or serous for up to three weeks if you are on treatment

It appears you have amoebic liver abscess it needs long term treatment around six weeks the time taken to recover

The drain needs to be kept for a minimum of 5 days till the track is formed and/or the drain is totally dry

To assure you should go for a repeat CBC and ultrasound at three weeks

Hope this helps

Brief Answer:
Get a culture of the drain fluid done

Detailed Answer:
Hi
THanks for writing in again

If on 6th post operative day it is 70ml per day get a culture of the drain fluid done and a CBC today itself

It is probably serousanguinous fluid that is coming out of the cavity

What was the size of abscess before it was drained ?
How much of it was drained ?
What medicines are you taking right now ?

Do write back with details so that I can help you better

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for the update

Having gone through your reports I feel the cavity will regress soon

Continue Monocef O for minimum 10-14 days
Metrogyll for 21 Days

If the volume of drain does not reduce in another 48-72 hours go for culture of the fluid

Hope this reassures you
Keep me updated about the progress
Wishing you speedy recovery
