Is Injecting Triamcinolone Acetonide And Betmethasone Safe In Pregnancy?
Question: Before I knew I was pregnant, approximately 12 days after conception/ovulation, I was given an injection of triamcinolone acetonide (40 mg) and betmethasone (can't remember the dose, but it was small) for an allergic reaction. Both of these medications are listed as Category D in the first trimester, which is very scary. I only had the one injection and did not miscarry - I am now 7.5 weeks pregnant. I am so worried about the possible effects on my unborn baby after reading studies. What are the chances I caused any birth defects?

Steroids like you had two of them , can be harmful and can cause birth defects like cleft palate.
But because you have received only for a short course, I presume the risk to be low.
Nevertheless, do undergo routine periodic ultrasound examinations to pick up any defects early.
