Is Heart Rate Of 51 Bpm A Cause For Concern?
Question: goodmorning……my question is ……Im having palpitations and when I take my bloodpressure its ok but my heart rate is lower than normal…..is it because the monitors not picking up all the beats when it seems to skip…….I have gastritis and it is bad right now causing the palpitations when ever i eat…….went to the er and everything was ok with my heart…..just nervous because my heart rate is slower……the latest rate showed 51 on the monitor……thank you

Hi welcome to HCM, a heart rate of 51-bpm is actually a sign of good health unless it was higher previously. Do you have any old ECG records you can compare with? In any case you have been to ER and cardiac problem has been excluded. I think it is only gastritis. The topmost part of the stomach called fundus, is in the chest. If there is fullness in stomach, the fundus can press on the heart ant cause temporary palpitations, which can come to normal when gas is released. This must have happened in your case. So relax. regards
