Brief Answer:
Yes, this is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Yes, this is normal.

2. The blocked ears are more common with nasal packing which is done for 48 hours post surgery. This is due to Eustachian Tube blockage and is expected to settle down soon.

3. The immediate healing period is 4 to 6 weeks. During this time, nasal blockage, discharge and discomfort is common. This is explained to the patient before surgery.

4. Inform your doctor/s. Medication and followup examination of the nose and ears should be done.

5. If the nose was not packed following surgery, the septum should be re-examined to rule out a septal haematoma. Any scabs, clots or crusts should be cleaned.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
