Is Excessive Sweating A Symptom Of Hyperthyroidism?

Question: My son is of 14 years.His Hb% is 11.He sleeps alongwith me(& my wife) in my room.Without AC(& not with AC),unlike me(& my wife),he is caught by night sweating (through out body including face,head & hair) even during winter.Whether this is abnormal health condition.

Hi...Excessive sweating like this is a symptom of hyperthyroidism. The other possibility is that in asthmatic kids due to excessive sympathetic activity there can be excessive sweating like this.

I suggest you get his thyroid status checked once.

Hi...in asthmatic kids, the sympathetic nervous system will be responsible for excessive sweating sometimes. This may be precursor of an asthma attack or wheezing.

But if your kid doesn't have prior wheezing or asthma history you need not worry about this please.
