Is Drinking Beer Safe After A Chicken Pox Infection?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Jul 2014
Question: Hi,

I am a 26 years male. I got chicken pox infection 3 weeks back and I am fully recovered now. All the rashes have formed crust and slowly fading away. No new rashes during last one week. I am going out with friends today and planning to eat some meat and have beer. During the illness I was mostly having boiled food and juices. Will eating meat and drinking beer cause any problems?

I don't have any craters on my face because of the rashes, although the rashes have light and dark brown colored spots. People around are saying they will disappear with time. Do I need to follow specific diet to make sure they go away? I am worried if eating meat or drinking alcohol will make it worse.

Brief Answer:
Too much meat and spicy food to be avoided

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Someone with chickenpox is most infectious from one to two days before the rash appears until all the blisters have crusted over. This usually takes five to six days from the start of the rash.

Having beer and meat in very small amounts may be acceptable, say just one beer and one serving of meat. Excessive alcohol and meat may lead to digestion problems and also since you are on boiled vegetable diet for a while, it may lead to indigestion, especially if the food is from outside and not home cooked. Also take care to avoid too much spicy foods.

You must drink lots of water and fresh juices to improve digestion.

Hope your query is answered.
