Question: Doctor my girlfriend and I had sex nearing the regular time of her periods which was three weeks ago but now she is late on her periods so what I would like to know is is there any possibility that she is pregnant

I read about Misoprostol and mifepristone online, and got to know that it can be used for abortion within 7 weeks. what I wanted to know is if in case she is pregnant can we use these tablets with out seeing a doctor in person and if we can what are the risks involved

Coming back to your question, I strongly oppose taking these abortion pills without seeing a doctor. Sometimes there might be a ECTOPIC PREGNANCY which needs to be ruled out by doing clinical examination or after doing scan. If unfortunately there is ectopic, and if she takes those pills she might have torrential bleeding, sometimes even endanger ones life. Also there are other problems with medical abortion like INCOMPLETE ABORTION or INFECTION. So its always recommended to take these pills under medical guidance. What I suggest you is get a urine pregnancy test done, if that is negative there is nothing to worry. For heavy bleeding I usually give mefenamic acid + tranexamic acid combination drug for acute control of bleeding. Kindly speak with your doctor for a prescription.
