Question: I used hand sanitizer and then ate some chips a few minutes later. Is hand sanitizer safe. I know you aren't supposed to wash it off so is it dangerous to eat something after using it

Brief Answer:
It's not dangerous.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P

Most of the hand sanitizers are alcohol based liquids that will evaporate very fast and very less or nil will be left on the hand within seconds.

So there is no need to worry as nil amount or very very less amount might have been ingested .

Hope this answers your query.

Any clarification feel free to ask .
