Is Chlamydia A Sexually Transmitted Disease?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Jun 2015
Question: My fiancé was just told she has chlamydia. I'm getting tested tomorrow. If I don't have it and didn't give it to her, does that mean she was unfaithful and had sex with someone who had it. We've been together for 3 and a half months

Brief Answer:
Chlamydia is sexually transmitted.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Chlamydia is only sexually transmitted. If you don't have the infection it suggests that she came in contact with someone else. That could have happened more than 3 months age- prior to when you met her.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

So it is possible that even if I don't have it she could've gotten it from before we were together? We are getting married and having a baby. I don't want to assume the worst but I don't know if we need to have the conversation about if she's cheated. That could cause serious problems.

Brief Answer:
Get yourself chacked first before assuming anything.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The infection can be asymptomatic. If you don't have the infection then it is possible that she got it from other partner.
Hope my answer is helpful.
