default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: Hi
I received Botox treatment 3 days ago.
The doctor told me that I can continue breastfeeding after 24 hrs from treatment .
I stopped breastfeeding as I was worried from online recommendations against breastfeeding.
However, Me and my child are suffering. I feel traumatized by the unexpected and sudden stoppage of breastfeeding.
I want to breastfeed her again . What are the risks. She is 14 months old . Worst case scenario, can she get botulism.
Please advise I'm so depressed.

Brief Answer:
Breastfeeding feeds can be given

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
The fact remains that in botox, of the dose is small, there is no harm in giving feeds.
I need to know the dose and cause of starting botox before I can give further information.
Awaiting your response.
Best of luck.

Brief Answer:
You can feed

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your response.
The dose is quite less.
The overall dose that might get transmitted in breast milk is minimal. I think you can give feeds. Consider avoiding it in future while you are feeding.
Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
