Question: Hello Doctor,

I am a 26 yrs old female, on dosage for pcos Since last 5 months i.e diane 35 and glycomet 500. I've been told by my gyne to take diane 35 from last day of my period for 21 days then wait for 7 days, periods will come and then to again start from last day of period.
As per my present cycle, i started the diane 35 a day late that is 6th day (usually my periods used to last for 5-6 days but since i started taking diane it ends on 4th day with very little or no bleeding on 5th). I am on pills since then regularly i.e. 7 days till now. Which means it has been 8 days since my periods ended. I had unprotected sex yesterday and dont want to become pregnant as of now. do i need to take emergency contraceptive? Will that be safe? What are the chances of conception? Will emergency contraceptive affect my menstrual cycle?
Please help

Brief Answer:
Emergency pill is not needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If you are taking Diane regularly from day 8 of the cycle then any additional contraceptive is not needed. If you take an emergency pill in addition to Diane you can have an irregular bleeding. Right now you are protected against pregnancy and no other pill is needed.
