Question: Hi Doctor,

My son (Santosh) is having stuffy nose most of the time. Is it fine at that age? Or do we need to visit a doctor or specialist?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
It is not common. He may be having an allergy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Stuffy nose most of the time is not common. I think he is having some allergy due to which he is having stuffy nose. I would suggest you to use saline nasal drops to each nostril twice or three times a day. Steam inhalation also helps.

It is better if you can visit a pediatrician for a detailed examination and treatment.

I hope this answered your query.

Brief Answer:
Yes it is safe.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Yes flunase spray is safe to use. As we need to subside the allergic reaction we usually give steroid. I would suggest to use it as and when required. He will get over the allergy as he grows up.

I hope this answered your query.

You can give it twice daily and as he is getting better reduce it to once daily in the night and then you can use it as and when required.

You can give him chewable tab. montek lc 5 mg once daily or as and when required.

It can be used for allergy as well.

Hi again,

Yes montek lc is used in asthma and it can be used for allergies. It is not necessary to take it but you can give him as an alternative to nasal spray if it works well for him.
