Question: Is a heating pad beneficial for cracked or bruised ribs? OTC nsaids don't seem to help much with the pain. Injury occurred about a week ago.

Hi and welcome.
It is typical for ribs injury that pain last for around2 weeks and usually pain is most intensive 4-5 days after injury and them it slightly improves over the next 2 weeks. Heating pad may help slightly but you need to continue with painkillers and ask you doctor for Tramadol or oxycodone. Also,you need to avoid physical activity and breathe as normal as possible to prevent pneumonia. Wish you good health. Regards
