Is A Bleeding Bump On The Skin Along With Scab Indicative Of Skin Cancer?

Question: Hi. I'm a 26 year old woman, and I have a question about a scar on my back. For a long time (at least a couple of years), I had a brownish bump on my back, sort of under the skin, maybe 3mm across. I have gotten dermatofibromas before, so I thought that's what it was, but then I accidentally scraped it open and a bunch of brown pus came out. I wasn't really concerned at the time, but as it started to scab, I kept picking it open so it never totally healed (I know I shouldn't have--it just became a nervous habit I did without thinking). Anyway, I made an effort to stop picking at it about a week ago and it's started to heal over again, but there's still a little scab in the center, and I got really scared after hearing that that could be a symptom of skin cancer (I have generalized anxiety and hypochondria). I was planning on going to the doctor about it, but in the meantime, how concerned should I be?

Brief Answer:
There is realy no major reason to get worry!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I have taken a look at this image and it is not suggestive of any possible skin cancer. Even if this were to be skin cancer, almost all of them can be managed fully without any complications. Also. the back is not a common site for skin cancer as it is always protected from sun rays. Skin cancer is common on exposed skin surfaces.

My advice is that you stay calm. Nothing serious is going on and there is no emergency that needs to be addressed right away. See your doctor at your earliest convenience about this.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
Note: Hope the answers resolves your concerns, however for further guidance of skin related queries consult our Dermatologist.Click here to book a consultation
