Brief Answer:
Test done after 12 weeks becomes conclusive.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Welcome once again.
I am happy that you are relaxing well.

Your risk for HIV is negligible only. Your DUO test at 15 days can not be considered as more conclusive. Anyhow HIV 1 (moat common) had been ruled out. You can skip further testing for HIV if you are happy. If you want to rule out both HIV 1&2 totally then you have to go for the test only after the completion of 12 weeks. Then only it would be sure that you are free from HIV beyond any doubt. Not to compromise with the same.

Follow-up: Is a 15 days Duo test for HIV conclusive? 1 hour later
Then why lab doctor told me that at 15 days it is conclusive & also told not to test again?
Really now it giving me tension that if the 15 days test was not conclusive then what will happen?

Brief Answer:
Tests more conclusive after certain period only.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

HIV 1 Antigen would appear in the presence of an HIV infection as early as 1st week of the infection itself. In some individuals due to its low titre, test may take time to pick up these antigens. So after 4 weeks there would not be false negative results with this test.
HIV 2 can be identified only with the antibody test as far as the tests available in market. The antibodies also may be recognized as early as 6-8 weeks, in some individuals antibody production could get delayed up to 12 weeks. So the test becomes more conclusive after 12 weeks. That is the idea.
Anyhow your risk is very low.

I fingered a women then masturbated with the same hand. About 3 months later started feeling some groin discomfort and have had it on and off for 7 months. I went to the doctor and he said my lymph nodes aren't swollen and strongly opposed to an hiv test. I'm still paranoid about the whole situation should I be. She was really wet when I fingered her.

Am querying current line of thinking by several consultants. Admitted to hospital May 2011; lumbar puncture showed elevated CSF protein of 1088 mg/L with 228 white cells, 95% lymphocytes. The working diagnosis was viral meningitis, and I was discharged after 2 days aciclovir. Negative for herpes simplex virus 1 and 2. Developed infection in leg early October 2011, followed by painful groin, then ulcers either side of scrotum - non painful, and diagnosed as shingles. Mid October 2011, following tinitus, buzzing , hearing different frequencies, then vertigo, admitted for 2 weeks in ID ward...CSF showed 614 white cells with 90% lymphocytosis. CSF protein raised at 1335 mg/L. Tested for everything under the sun, incl. HIV, syphillis, Lyme disease, Cat scratch fever (leg infection thought to have been through an insect bite). All negative, incl. ANA. Chest x-ray, MRI scan of brain and whole spine also negative. Admitted again 26th December 2011, aciclovir for seven days, now back home feeling well, if a little tired. Current thought is Mollarets meningitis, but more recently, rheumatology dept. thinking Behcets syndrome, as I suffer from mouth ulcers. My contention is this; I have sufferd from mouth ulcers since a teenager taking exams at school. If I have a job interview, I will get mouth ulcers after @ 48 hours. Dentist thinks stress induced, as do I. I have no aching joints and no eye irritation, also, just found out that HLAB51 negative. I am a 42 year old British male and caucasian. I can t help feeling there s a square peg being pushed into a round hole here. What about migraine; the tinitus, buzzing and vertigo? Also, I took a non-steroidal (Ibuprofen) prior to the first two episodes. Bickerstaff s encephalitis sounds just as plausible as Behcets...or am I in denial? I would appreciate any advice, even if it s to simply face the music . Thank you for your time.

Hello Dr.I am hiv+ but that is very much under control. The alopecia areatta began before my diagnosis and even with treatment of the hiv and cortisone shots, there is very little improvement. Rogaine helped my eyebrows but made my head hair worse. Do you have any recommendations?
