yes it certainly is. There is it's main use which is for tiredness/sleepiness when on a computer for a long time. This can be for shift work. BUT, nobody restricts doctors to ONLY the approved uses. Provigil is a lower classification of controlled substance than amphetamine. This is a bit of a borderline use (unless there is narcolepsy or maybe if there is sleep apnea associated with changes in shift).
