Brief Answer:
Beta blocker prevent Epinephrine from working well

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thank you for writing to us.

Beta blocker medications like Atenolol prevent Epinephrine from working effectively due to receptor competitiveness and it is quite rightly changed to Diltiazem that does not have this effect.

Although the dose is probably not too high (120mg), but it is quite unusual to require BP medication at this age of 26 years. I hope you have had a thorough cardiological assessment, and if not, I would recommend this.
Your emergency pack must contain: Prednisolone 30mg, Cetirizine 10mg in addition to the Epipen.

Best Wishes.

I am also overweight in the process of losing weight. I was prescribed diltiazem by cardiologist. my heart also beats faster than it should. the cardiologist said once I lose the weight the medication will no longer be necessary. is prednisone necessary for the emergency pack? the kenalog was just a side question . I go to a dermatologist who sometimes gives me kenalog injections for boils is that safe wi the my new medication. I have a normal stress test, e'er and echocardiogram.

Brief Answer:
Prednisolone safer than Kenalog

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I do not recommend Kenalog injections as they are depot steroid injections and regular intramuscular use leads to loss of muscle bulk (locally).
Yes, lowering weight would be very important as people with increased BMI seem to get more allergic reactions (though several papers exist with conflicting results)
