Clindamycin is normally reserved for serious infection mainly in persons who are allergic to other antibiotics such as penicillin.
It is not usually used for infections involving the testicles.

There is a risk of severe colitis (infection/inflammation) of the colon with this antibiotic and this is the reason that it is used only if there are no other options that would effectively treat.

Medications such as levofloxacin, ofloxacin, doxycycline, ceftriaxone-- are more commonly used
