Hi and welcome to HCM.
COPD is progressive disease and it can't be cured but its course is always chronic and it progresses slowly through many years. however, you can always slow the progression of COPD and improve lung function by quiting smoking, regulate body mass, avoiding fumes, taking medications regularly. in.most people it doesn't progress to the degree of serious disability or death and people with copd have normal lifetime if they follow doctor instructions. Wish you good health. Regards
