Is C-section Preferred When Diagnosed With Pre-eclampsia In Earlier Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Nov 2016
Question: hi, I would like to know, I'm pregnant with my 2nd and I was asked to choose whether to have nature birth or c-section. I did picked c section, since they put me in the high risk due to that I had pre- eclamsia right during 40weeks labor so they had to performed a c section on me 4 years ago, and my son born almost 8lbs. I was also dry birth . with this pregnancy, I don't have any symptoms at this time (28 weeks). I'm pretty skinny, 5'2 , was 96lbs before pregnant, now 123lbs. Will that safer for me to have a c section instead of natural birth?

Brief Answer:
C-section will be safer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

You have previously had a C-section. Having a natural birth or a normal delivery is less likely as if you had pre eclampsia in previous pregnancy then chances of having a high blood pressure in this pregnancy are also there. In case there are no complications till 38-40 weeks and the labor pains start well on time only then there is a chance of normal delivery.

Otherwise a C-section is both safe and convenient for you and your baby.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Regards.
