Question: My drug insurer told me that Lialda will cost me $1247.00 and recommended Aprizo, Balsalazide & Delzicol.
of the three, Balsalazide will cost me $5.00 out of pocket.
Sounds incredible but is it equivalent is not, what about the other two?

Brief Answer:
Yes equivalent, same family of drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Lialda is a mesalamine t aminosalicylate derivative used in inflammatory bowels. No doubt its quite expensive. Aprizo , balsalazine and delzicol are all 5 aminosalicylate derivatives and work the same. So if balsalazine costs you less, i would recommend you should switch to iy , but let your doctor decide.

Medically and pharmacologically, there is no difference between the two.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and your wife and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Dear Doctor XXXXXXX
My wife just picked up her prescription for Balsalazide 750mg at the pharmacy.
The label on the container states that she should take three capsules by mouth three times daily.
Does this appear excessive to you or is it a normal practice to take nine capsules daily?
Thank you XXXXXXX XXXX

Brief Answer:
Dose is right

Detailed Answer:
Thnk you for getting back to me

Yes the prescription is right. 3 tablets in a single dose (2.25 gm) with 3 doses (6.75gm) in a day is a recommended dose fo balsalazide in inflammatory bowel disease.

I hope it helps.
