Is Androgel The Right Medicine For Erectile Dysfunction?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: Hello dr XXXXXXX you answered a recent question for me regarding ED. If you can retrieve our recent discussion, that would be helpful. I was able to get a urologist to do Doppler testing based on a 1/3 dose of the injection used to attain an erection. While that dose did not attain a significant erection, it was enough for him to conclude that there was no venous leak. He may give me full dose for more detailed evaluation. He also tested my testosterone and those results came back low, so he suggested I start androgel. I'm hesitant to do this because ED is my only symptom. I don't have other symptoms of low-t. And I'm worried about side effects of androgel. I still think there is some artery blood flow problem undetected yet. Re medication, I think it may be better to go on daily Cialis rather than androgel in the meantime. Please let me know if you have any other feedback regarding my situation. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Color Doppler Ultrasound Scanning has to be done by Sonologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for writing again.
As per your statement Doppler Penile Scan was done by Urologist .I would state that this is to be exclusively done by qualified Radiologist/Sonologist who can interpretate the arterial velocity ,peak arterial pressure and venous pressure or leak which are very important factors to judge the penile circulation and to decide whether ED is vascular in origin or not.

Please get it done by a qualified Radiologist well experienced in this field .

Thanks and Regards.
