Question: I am a Cancer Cechexia being given a drug called Somatuline/Lanreotide, it is administered by injection once a month. I've lost 50lbs in 10 months because I have Cachexia & I have no desire to eat whatsoever, all foods taste terrible to me. The Cachexia Syndrome took away my desire to eat & left my body unnurashed for 10 monthes, Cancer Cachexi is such a Dibilitating Syndrome it's depleting my body of whatever physical health I have left. The Cancer on it's own isn't as aggressive as Cancer Cachexia's Cancer Cachexia's ability to shut down my natural desire to eat, it's much more aggress than my Cancer is. The Cachexia is what's taking the life out of my body,
My son has been investigating the avenue's avalible to combat this Cancer Anorexia/Cechexia. He came back pretty much empty handed. We came across a drug called Anamorelin that was being trial tested for it's ability to stimulate the patients appitite, most of the trials gave Anamorelin a positive approval rating. Long story short (i'm sure tou agree) Anamorelin is not FDA approved yet but I managed to find a drug supplier who stocked it so I purchased 500mg. I hope you can answer a few questions for me? 1)- I'm worried about taking the Anamorelin with other medications, I'm administered Somatuline/Lanreotide via injection once a month, Do you think the two will have a adverse reaction. 2)- Can you help/guide me to an appropriate resource
that might have first hand experience treating patients or being treated with Anamorelin. 3)- From my reaserch the only side affects reported were hypoglycemia, nausea, diabbetes, mild gastrintestinal complications. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Anamorelin is not available in the market

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Cancer cachexia is a debilitating condition and I know the magnitude of the problem.
Anamorelin is not yet approved by FDA and it is not available in the market. Recent research papers suggest it is very effective in treating cancer cachexia. But as a registered medical practitioner,I will not promote the use of such kind of drugs for a patient. I would suggest this drug once it will complete all the trials and once it is available in the market.
You can try many other alternatives after discussing with your physician. Highly effective drugs like cannabinoids, ghrelin, and cyprohepatidine are available for the same condition.
There is no evidence suggestive of drug interactions between anamorelin and other cancer drugs so you can easily coadminstor the drugs. Always keep in mind that self treatment do more harm to you.
Anamorelin is relatively safe drug and does not cause any serious side effects.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
