Regarding your concern, I would explain that amitriptyline is not safe in your clinical situation, because it is known to cause conductance abnormalities as a common adverse effect.

For this reason, I would recommend starting sertraline or paroxetine to help manage your anxiety (and wean off xanax) which do not have this adverse effect. These drugs are better tolerated at your age and do not have any impact on the heart rhythm or conductance disorders.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above treatment options.
