Is Amitriptyline Advisable For Severe Hip Pain?

Question: I have osteoarthritis and hip bursitis. Celebrex not cosamin ASU help. I also have a scoliosis and herniated discs in neck and lower back...........Use to being in some kind of pain but now the hip pain is getting really bad and a friend suggested that I try Amitriptyline 10 Mg. She is English and was prescribed it over there....

It is an antidepressant but something to do with the nerves helps with the pain......????I'm not ready to get hooked on anything so??? But some days the pain is bad and Aleve doesn't help either.......

Amitriptyline is most commonly used for depression but it is also a good drug for nerve related pains. I think this is falls in line with your pain and would make a good drug to at least try. This is not a strong habit forming drug and as such do not be too scared that you would be hooked on it. I will suggest that you give it a try and if the results are helpful, continue and if not, stop.

I will suggest you talk this with your doctor so that he can give a script for this since it is not available OTC.
