Question: Hello! I am 28 weeks pregnant with my first child and struggle with severe insomnia. Before I got pregnant I was taking 10 mg of ambien a night to sleep which always worked wonders for me. Since pregnant my doctor has ok'ed that I take ambien at 5 mg as needed. It has been helpful on the days I take it but the other days I dont sleep at all. I am curious about how often it would be safe to take this medication at this point in my pregnancy. I know that it is a Cat C medication and that studies are not performed but I am just trying to find some resolution on this if possible. Please help!

Brief Answer:
Take clonazepam

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear thanks for trusting health are magic.
No dear as you rightly said it is not safe to take it regularly at all.
Personally I don't advise my pregnant patients solider ever.
Instead of zolpidem you can take tablet clonazepam or diazepam which have good safety profile and easily available but since they are prescription drugs you need to visit your doctor for prescription.
Take care
