Brief Answer:
Probably nothing significant.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

There are at time particles seen along with urine sample. Occasionally urine sample may appear cloudy. It doesn't carry major significance unless the incidents are isolated and not recurring. I would not be overly worried about the one time occurrence of white substance and initial milky urine as long as these instance don't repeat further. Should you notice many more instance of the same, you may consider getting urine sample tested under microscope (urine routine examination).

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Brief Answer:
If he is asymptomatic then don't be overly alarmed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I can understand now. The repeated episodes of cloudy urine is worrying you. But many a times, the cloudiness is due to presence of cast/ sediments and sometimes due to infection. If you have not direct symptoms such as increased frequency / burning pain while urinating, abdominal pain then you need not be overly worried.

The next time you notice cloudy or milky urine, you might consider getting urine tested for routine microscopy. It will help us isolate the cause.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Brief Answer:
That's unrelated...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The puffiness on the inner thigh and the cloudy urine are more likely unrelated. They both are individual and isolated events.

As mentioned earlier, the current problem will resolve. Continue with suggested measures.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Brief Answer:
You are asymptomatic for kidney stones...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

As I mentioned in my earlier reply sediments, casts in the urine sample besides infection can cause cloudy urine. At times, urinary tract infection and urinary sediments / cast may lead to kidney stones. However you are asymptomatic for kidney stones. Therefore I wasn't overly worried.

But if you are concerned and prefer to explore, you should consider urine routine examination. Based on the results of the test, you may also consider an ultrasound scan, a test to rule out kidney stones.

Both urinary tract infection and kidney stones are treatable condition. So stay relaxed. Drinking plenty of fluids helps a lot - both in clearing urine cloudiness as well as treating urinary infection / kidney stones.

Hope this helps too. I'd be available to answer your doubts / questions. And I apologies for the late reply...

Regards

Brief Answer:
Not often...

Detailed Answer:
Apologies for the late reply again. I'll answer your question in this way.

A kidney stone becomes significant when they are larger than 10mm. It's significant because those are the ones that might get blocked leading to pain. Stones smaller than 10mm more often than not pass away easily without disturbance. And stones that don't disturb a patient are often not diagnosed unless we do sequential monitoring through daily ultrasound scans. In other words, we run diagnostic scans in patients who complaint of symptoms and in already diagnosed patients. If I order an ultrasound scan in one with cloudly urine tomorrow, I may or may not see a stone. It doesn't necessarily mean this patient will not develop an insignificant kidney stone the next day or the day after

Therefore it's quite hard to answer your question. However if you have persistent cloudy urine, there is a definitive chance of infection. And a patient with urinary tract infection is more prone to get kidney stones. Hence it is necessary to do urine analysis and if necessary the ultrasound scan.

Hope this is clear. I'll be available to clarify doubts further.

Brief Answer:
Urine examination will determine the cause...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your reason for concern. Urine examination is a simple tests that will confirm the cause of cloudiness - whether sediments/cast, infection or blood. Therefore if cloudiness recurs again, do not hesitate to visit a doctor for urine routine examination.

Stressors or BP are not directly related to urine cloudiness. They wouldn't start or aggravate the cloudiness.

Hope it's clear. I will be glad to help you further if necessary.

not to be concerned..

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

High pH indicated alkalinity. Alkaline urine is some times part of infection, It doesn't always indicate a serious problem. What other abnormalities were found? Can you upload the test result?

What other tests is the doctor ordered for?

Awaiting response...

Brief Answer:
Culture test is useful...

Detailed Answer:
As mentioned earlier, cloudy urine with alkaline pH might be part of urinary tract infection. Therefore urine culture test and microscopy test will useful. It will take 2-3 days before we get culture report. Until then keeping drinking plenty of fluids. We'll wait for the test results.
