IS Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Oral Contraceptive Pills?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,

Hope you are doing fine.

My LMP was on May 9th. I had unprotected sex on May 26th, 27th & 28th. I took I-Pill, one each on May 26th, May 27th & May 28th. So in total I took 3 I-Pill tablets. Proper ejaculation did happen around 5 times. Will I get pregnant in this scenario? Please advise.

Since a week I'm having this bad nausea feeling and stomach cramps. My face complexion is getting darker too. Hope this is a part of I-Pill tablets which I consumed.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Brief Answer:
The possibility of pregnancy is almost nil.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Miss XXXX,
Ramada XXXXXXX

If taken within 24 hours of unprotected intercourse I pill is 95% effective in preventing pregnancy. So it is extremely unlikely that you will conceive in this scenario.
The feeling of nausea and stomach cramps are not due to pregnancy. Your complexion becoming darker is probably because of the exposure to Sun's heat. So do not worry.
Your period may probably be delayed because of the I pill that you have used.

I hope I have answered your concerns. If you have further queries do write to me. I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama

Hello Doctor,

Ramadan XXXXXXX to you too.

Thanks a lot for your reply. In all 3 cases where I took I-Pill, I had consumed the tablets within 24 hours of unprotected sex.

I just noticed darkening of skin after I consumed the tablets. Hence worried. You are right regarding sun XXXXXXX as its very hot here and my job is mostly outdoor.

Thanks once again.

Brief Answer:
Please use regular contraception.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Miss XXXX

Welcome back.

I just have one request. Please use regular contraception. It is more effective than I pill. It will also save you from this sort of stress.

With best wishes

Brief Answer:
Tab Primperan 10 mg twice daily for two days

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
This nausea could be part of premenstual symptoms.
It could be due to mild viral infection and not related to periods.
Consult doctor and Take Tab Primperan ( Metaclopromide) 10 mg twice daily for two days.

Best wishes,
Dr Rama
