Question: I was diagnozed with pre-diabetes about 2 yrs ago and my HBA1C was around 7-7.5. In was advised to stop sugar and exercise and it was stable around those numbers. Last week I got a HBA1C done and it had shot up to 9.9. I was put on Galvusmet 500&50 once a day. I have been taking tablet for last 4 days. I checked PPS 2hrs after dinner yesterday and Fasting this morning . It was 191 and 169. Since its been only 4 doses of medicine. Does it take time to take full effect? If yes, how long and Also is there a chance I will be taken off once its stable and I am able to maintain it?

Brief Answer:
Yes continue with the medication

Detailed Answer:
Sir, i have gone through your query and understood your concerns.

Sir, coming your first question, yes it sets in two weeks as you just started medication.

second regarding stopping medication, first Doctor will wait for the sugar levels to be normal. If the levels are getting lower, then first reduce dose and if still lower than normal level continue, stop and see the medication. But if sugar levels are just normal, then you have to continue with medication and exercise.

Thank you sir,
Dr Phanindra.
