I Take PrEP. I Engaged In Unprotected Oral Sex With

Question: I take PrEP. I engaged in unprotected oral sex with a questionable partner of unknown HIV status. Partner states he was negative, however, he also stated he was straight before I discovered his Facebook page and learned that was a lie (all of his photos and posts were littered with comments of excessive numbers of other XXXXXXX people that seemed, well, pretty scummy and not the type i'd want to associate with) . The individual stated that he is adamantly opposed to anal sex, which factored into my initial consent, but i don't know what to believe anymore.

During our encounter, semen splashed into my eye. Am I at risk? The breach of trust is unsettling and possibly skewing my interpretation of risk. Looking for expert opinion. Would me being on PrEP ppx a situation like this?

Cheers

Brief Answer:
The risk of getting HIV from unprotected oral sex is less likely.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Fputd,

Welcome.

The risk of getting HIV from unprotected oral sex is considered as less likely and the status of the partner is unknown than the chances are still less so just calm down. Splashing of semen into the eyes is also a very uncommon way of exposure. You had not mentioned how many days had passed after the exposure which is very important to comment on PEP.

If the exposure is 3 days old then there is no meaning of talking about PEP as the maximum duration of starting PEP is 72 hours after the exposure. As such the risk is less likely but I would request you to mention the incidence in detail and get back to me so that I can guide you in much better way.

Thank You
