I Recently Noticed A Vein Very Raised Running Down My

default

Question: I recently noticed a vein very raised running down my shin. There are a few other veins in the same area also raised. Occasionally hurts but not very much. I recently used a machine in my work out that I put my legs under a bar and lifted. This was very painful and I wondered if this caused the vein issue.

Brief Answer:
Varicosity...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Physical exercise greatly enhance muscle contraction. These enhanced contractions pump-out blood into superficial and deep veins. It leads to enlarged and raised veins. Such type of enlargement are temporary and disappear soon.

Rarely these enlarged, raised and engorged veins remain and is called as varicose veins. Varicose veins are treated conservatively through compression stockings. Rarely it needs interventions.

If what you have are such permanently distended and raised veins, I will suggest you see a surgeon who can prescribe those stockings.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
