Question: Yes. Earlier I made myself a sandwich and as I was eating it I noticed that my upper lip felt funny. By the time I went to the mirror and looked at it, an hour had passed and it was swollen to twice it's size. I have already taken 3 Benadryl. It has been 3 hours. It has only gotten more swollen and I have been applying ice every 10 minutes off and on.

Brief Answer:
Looks to be angioneurotic edema, needs steroids

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
This looks to be a condition called angioneurotic edema. The exact cause is not known. Benedryl should have helped you.
If three dosages are not helping then you may need oral steroids like Omnacortil or Deflazacort; needs a prescription.
It is also better to get some blood tests like CBC, IgE.

You may please post clear and focused photos if possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I failed to mention earlier that while I was making the sandwich I was also preparing to bake a pie and I opened a can of condensed milk and I licked the lid and my upper lip did rub across the metal lid of the can. It was almost 5 minutes after that when I started noticing my lip felt funny, but my gums or tongue are fine which is so weird. At the present time my upper lip is approximately 4 times it's normal size and almost completely covers up my lower lip. It does not itch or is not painful, just very weird feeling and I drink everything through a straw so it makes it a little difficult. I have put quite a bit of Vaseline on it, inside and out including the area above my lip right below my nose, to keep the area from cracking or stretching to bad.

Brief Answer:
Same diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reverting back.
Sparing the tongue and gum also point to the same diagnosis as explained above.
It would be better to go for steroids and things as mentioned above.
Please go for these and let me know the results.
Take care.
Wish you all the best.
