Question: I just got my results through the internet for my echo..I was nervous for the test so my blood pressure was high due to anxiety ..my blood pressure is usually pretty good..what does all this mean? Do I have a aneurism of the abdomen? How about diastolic dysfunction? Is this a bad report?

Hello XXXXXXX

After reviewing all the echo pages attached by you and after going through the medical details I can understand your concern for your health and I would like to tell you that

1. Your cardiac pumping capacity is 60% as per your reports which is pretty good.

2. There is diastolic dysfunction which is the result of ageing process and is not a significant issue in your case scenario.

3. I don’t see anywhere written in the report about aneurysm. However your aortic dimensions are slightly on the higher side but within normal range.

Overall taking into consideration your age group it’s a fairly ok report.

I hope this information will answer your query.

Kind Regards

What causes the aortic dimensions to be larger? What degree of dystolic dysfunction do I have? Do you see that in 60 year olds? So it is a fair report..should I be worried about anything? What can I do to improve my heart thanks so much

Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Anxiety and stress are important causes of elevated blood pressure and high blood pressure in turn can lead to Lv hypertrophy which can in turn lead to diastolic dysfunction.

Second important reason is age related wear n tears and stiffness that Comes in cardiac muscles. High normal aortic dimensions is also the result of degenerative changes.

Healthy lifestyle routine is the key to healthy life. Eat healthy, exercise or daily morning walks, no smoking should be practiced.

Detailed Answer:
Yes XXXXXXX there is mild conc Lv hypertrophy and grade II diastolic dysfunction which both can be the result of hypertension.

Yes you have to take bp meds regularly in order to keep bp within normal limits and also follow healthy lifestyle routine.

If bp get low then u can skip a dose or consult your treating physician so as to adjust medication.

What shows that I have diastoylic dysfunction of 2? What on the echo shows that? I am confused because my blood pressure is usually good only short times of anxiety does it go up..so if it is blood pressure that causes this and I do not have high blood pressure most of the time.. what else could cause this? Could it be a misreading of the ultrasound tech or doctor??

Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Ma’am you are getting more and more stressed, just relax.

Mild concentric lvh with Mitral velocities Of E more than A is usually suggestive of grade II dysfunction. However this should be backed up by TDI imaging which is not there.

Transiently high blood pressure which patients usually have no clue of can also cause such variations. Again I wanna assure you that your report overall is alright and there is nothing alarming. Just relax.

Pulse rate of 85 to 90 is within normal heart rate range.

I hope this information will answer your query and relieve your worries.

Kind Regards
