Brief Answer:
Can be due to low levels of estrogen.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

Intense itching in the vagina is commonly encountered in two conditions,
One is the Candidiasis (yeast), this does present with intense itching and foul-smelling curdy discharge. This condition can be easily treated with antifungals like Fluconazole.

The other possibility for such a problem is low estrogen levels leading to dryness in the vagina which stimulate the vaginal mucosa and cause itching.

I'd suggest getting examined by a Gynecologist and ascertain the cause to get treated accordingly.
Meanwhile, you can take an antihistaminic like Benadryl which will reduce the itching.

I hope this answers your query.

In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Wishing you good health.

Regards.
Dr. Rakhi Tayal.
