Brief Answer:
Possibility of bipolar disorder need to be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

Although it is never possible to delineate the cause for increased sexual drive without physically examining the patient but with available information it appears to me that we need to rule out bipolar disorder. It is kind of psychiatric disorder where the people have both extremes of mood (depression and mania). During mania or hypomania phase individuals report extreme sexual energy including sexual drive.

Considering the fact that you had depression in the past with family history depression lasting for years, we need to explore possibility of bipolar disorder or hypomania.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.

I was checked by a psychiatrist 2 months ago and he told me that I do not have bipolar disorder or hypomania. Any other suggestion of what is going on?

Brief Answer:
It will be better to get reassessment by the Psychiatrist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

Since the problem is just for last one week, assessment by psychiatrist does not hold true for current problem. Most of the individuals with bipolar disorder remain undiagnosed on an average of 10 years before they receive their correct diagnosis. This is because before the occurrence of the hypomanic or manic episode every bipolar individual is considered a case of depression or dysthymia.

In my opinion, there is a need for reassessment by a Psychiatrist as the problem is very recent.

In case that is not the case, there is a need to look for hormonal causes such as hormonal imbalance.

I hope this helps you further.
Thanks and regards.

I understand. Thank you very much. My doctor had an operation so he will not be able to see me for 2-3 weeks. Any suggestion of how to manage my symptoms which by the way are a bit extreme.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

Considering the fact that there is a possibility of bipolar disorder, we need to look for treatment of bipolar disorder. I mean to say that without treating the cause there is little help available as symptom management is very difficult without addressing the cause in case of hypersexuality.

However, the following can be of some help to you.

1. Taking a cold water shower can release the pressure to some extent.

2. Thinking something nonsexual can decrease the pressure and fullness

3. Engaging yourself in one or another activity can be of some help.

4. Application of ice pack over testis

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
