Question: I have pain in back of my head in lower portion. Its not constant but its happening frequently for last couple of months. Earlier I thought it may be due to stress but now its hampering my day to day life. Some days I wake up with severe pain in back of my head and feeling of giddiness. This feeling persists for about 3-4 hrs which leads to confusion and lack of concentration. Can you tell me why its happening and can you also suggest if I should take any specific medical tests?

Brief Answer:
CT scan head and neck to be done

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It could be side effect of some medicine or could be something else. Kindly let me know the medicines and supplements that you have been taking.
Mostly in such cases where symptoms are vague, many specialist get involved. In your case a consultation with ENT specialist, neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon would be needed. It will help rule out causes of inner ear, brain and cervical spine respectively.

I will also suggest a detailed blood work including fasting blood sugar and serum electrolytes. I will also suggest a CT scan head and neck.

Waiting for your reply.
