Brief Answer:
Probably reactive arthritis which is developed after salmonella infection

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

My name is dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
Do you have any other symptom like painful urination or painful joints?
It is true that salmonella can cause long term eye irritation. This is caused by reactive arthritis which is a diagnosis developed by salmonella infection.
Some examinations that I suggest to confirm the diagnosis are:
-ERS blood test
-urine and stool samples

Some advice that I can give to you are:
-take antiinflammatory medication like ibuprofen 400 mg 3 times a day
-take prescribed antibiotics, you should consult your doctor about this treatment
-use topical corticosteroids cream to relieve the redness.
-rest is very important to recover

Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have any other question Ill be glad to help.

Brief Answer:
blood test can confirm partially, other examinations are needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
to confirm the diagnosis there are several examinations that should be done.
First of all a physical examination is needed.
Other examinations are:
-ERS blood test
-HLA-B27 genetic marker test which is a genetic test that can confirm the diagnosis.

If the diagnosis is confirmed the treatment consists in the medications that I mentioned:
-antiinflammatory medication like ibuprofen 400 mg 3 times a day
-prescribed antibiotics, you should consult your doctor about this treatment
-topical prescribed corticosteroids cream to relieve the redness.

This is not an infection,it is an autoimmune disease that is activated by the infections like salmonella. With proper medications it can be maintained under control so do not worry.
Hope my answer was helpful.

Take care,
