I Have Had A Rough Several Months Because The Psych

Posted on Tue, 9 Oct 2018
Question: I have had a rough several months because the Psych was changing my antidepressant after 15 years. The new med was one i had taken early on and it just made me sleepy. My psych has been on a month long vacay. Is there ANYTHING I can take in the interim so I don't go completely down the rabbit hole. I am deadly serious about this.

It is advisable to take the same previous medication.

Hi madam,
Welcome to Ask A doctor service

I have gone through your query in detail and can understand your concern towards your symptoms.

It is advisable to take the same previous medication which made you feel better.

It is not advisable to change any medication if it is doing better for such a long time.

Hope this information would help you.
Thank you.

Thank you so much for answering so quickly. Is there anything I can do while the medication takes effect? I am just about desperate. I did get SBD oil that has No thp in it. I was wondering if that would help for a while. I forgot to say that I also have clonipin. My PC told me Not to take it, but it has also been a help when I would have to go out in public.I dont want to give up because then I would stay in bed and not want to eat. I have a very loving husband.

I am sorry, Dr. That is CBD oil - cannabidoil or hemp. Marijuana extract w/o the THP.
Thank you so much. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It is not so preferable.

Detailed Answer:
Hi madam,
Welcome back,

I have gone through your follow up query.

I can advise that it is not so advisable if it contains cannabid oil as it will cause tolerance and dependence. Tolerance means that you will eventually need higher doses to get same effects and it can cause serious side effects. Dependence means you will get physical and psychological symptoms when you discontinue it.

Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
Hope this information would help you.
Thank you
