What Can Be Done When KY Gel Is Not Helping With Penetration During Intercourse?

Question: I have been married for 1 year and both I and my wife are 26 years old. We have been trying to have sex regularly but it seems like my penis is too large or her vagina is too small. I cannot go inside her how much ever I try. We tried KY Gel as lubricant a couple of times but it isn't helping. Is it alarming? Should we get professional help?

Brief Answer:
Proper examination required

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

If you are not able to have penetrative vaginal intercourse even after one year of marriage, then it is a worrisome situation.

A gynecologist should be consulted for proper internal examination of your wife to rule out various causes leading to this, like vaginismus, vaginal atresia, vaginal stenosis and persistent hymen.

If her examination is normal, then you should consult a urologist to rule out any penile abnormalities.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Feel free to ask further.
