Could Extreme Fatigue , Dizziness And Some Nausea Be Signs Of A Vascular Condition?
Question: I have been experiencing extreme fatigue, dizziness and some nausea for seven weeks now. My head isn't exotically "spinning" but my head feels very "heavy." All tests my Dr. has ordered have been NEGATIVE. I am an older person - 83, however, I have been active all my life. We are considering going to the XXXX Clinic in XXXXXXX A retired doctor friend of mine feels I may have some vascular condition, i.e., the carotiod arteries....
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, XXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Are your symptoms constant or intermittent?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.
I will like to know more about this dizziness. How often do you get it? Also, when do you get this dizziness most? Is it when you change positions or stay upright for long times? Is it any better at night or when you are sitting?
I will appreciate these response and promise to return with more suggestions. While it could be a problem with brain perfusion, it could also be related to an ageing adaptive system in the ear and carotid arteries.

I have the dizziness every day. Usually starts about 1/2 hour after getting out of bed. Yes, I have it when I am upright but also when sitting but not as bad. My fatigue is extreme. Also, upon any activity, I am extremely out of breath.
Will an ultra sound on my carotid arteries be helpful? Or??????

Brief Answer:
I will advise you get evaluated for presyncope!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Your symptoms point to probably cardiovascular causes. I recommend that your heart, the rate and rhythm as well as the respond of blood pressure regulatory mechanisms through orthostatic measurements, be evaluated. This way, we can narrow down or exclude some potential causes.
A doppler of your arteries might not be the exact answer but would eliminate a possibility here. This is a straightforward test and can be done even in your hometown.
Have you ever had an ultrasound of the heart? This could also point to heart failure given the fact that you are extremely out of breath with minimal exercise.
Let me hear back from you!.
