Question: I have a past history of brain lesions (as in about 15 years ago) discovered by MRI when my doctor ordered the scan during a nasty bout with depression and anxiety. Lately I have had pretty severe short term memory issues. I have also started having severe pain on the entire bottom of my left foot. It burns and feels like a pins and needles sensation. It's only the left foot. Two nights ago I was preparing to go to bed and I thought I was going to choke because I was unable to swallow. It was as if I just couldn't make that part of my throat work. My throat doesn't hurt. I just couldn't swallow. So I got up and put water in my mouth and tossed my head back to make it go down. I have also been getting urinary tract infection much more often. I am a 49 year old woman.

Brief Answer:
Probably the symptoms are related to brain lesions, follow the advice below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to brain lesions.

There are many medical conditions that can cause brain lesions.

I would recommend the following examinations:

A complete blood count to detect for an infection.

A recent MRI to check for changes in the size or consistence of the brain lesions

A neurological examination which should be done by a neurologist.

Meanwhile, I can suggest a treatment to relieve the symptoms.

I suggest a vitamin B complex supplement which is a support for the nervous system.

I also suggest anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg for the pain in the feet.

After the examinations you can consult me again for a specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
