Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Your ALT is not within normal range. It is mildly elevated.
Hepatitis B infection can be acute or chronic.
In acute hepatitis B, ALT may be elevated multiple times the upper limit of normal ( may be in 1000s).
In chronic infection, the infection may be active or inactive. If active, ALT may be raised , but only mildly and not to the extent seen in acute infection.
If your infection is chronic, few other tests like HBeAg, HBV DNA are to be done to decide whether you need antiviral treatment.

My bilirubin test did not exceed the limit . All other enzymes were okay . Albumin and others . Just my ALT and AST are slightly elevated . I'll be going for a followup next week . My eyes are still yellow even with normal billirubin

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sorry for the late reply.
Treatment is needed only if the liver has developed cirrhosis or fibrosis or if the ALT is more than 2 times the upper limit of normal and the HBV DNA is increased . Or else Antivirals are not needed and only periodic follow up done.
